Cruising with Style on the MSC Seascape

As we stepped on board the MSC Seascape, we were greeted by modern luxury and excitement. The ship, a floating paradise, boasts state-of-the-art amenities, diverse dining options, and entertainment for all tastes. With its sleek design and modern comforts, the MSC Seascape became our home away from home as we set sail for a week of adventure in the Caribbean.

Accommodations Tailored for Comfort

Your cabin is not just a place to rest; it's your personal sanctuary. My role is to ensure your room or suite aligns with your preferences, whether you seek a cozy interior cabin or an expansive suite with a private balcony offering breathtaking views. We selected to enjoy a Deluxe Balcony Room for our travels, and it did not disappoint. Spacious and comfortable, my husband and I slept in the double sized bed, while my son nestled into a single sized bed on the couch made up by housekeeping daily. The balcony sat two adults comfortably, fitted with two chairs and a side table. It’s important to note that bed arrangements vary by family size, and style of accommodation.

Dining Excellence for Every Palate

A culinary journey awaits aboard the MSC Seascape, from casual buffets offering international flavors to specialty restaurants serving gourmet dishes. The ship's culinary offerings are vast and designed to cater to the most discerning tastes. We we’re never left for wanting and thoroughly enjoyed each meal while on board. During dinner, your taste buds are in for a treat as you explore a world of gastronomic delights on the high seas with the wide selection of a-la-carte offerings, changing daily. The ship has eleven eateries - three main restaurants, a dedicated Aurea restaurant and the Yacht Club restaurant, a 1,169 seater buffet - and five specialty restaurants including the Butcher’s Cut, Ocean Cay fish restaurant, HOLA! Tacos & Cantina and Kaito Teppanyaki and Sushi Bar.

Keeping the Kids Happy

We chose to travel aboard the MSC Seascape ship because of its family friendly focus and array of activities for our son to enjoy. From the multi-storey water park and adventure trail “Pirates Cove Aquapark” with a combined 6 slides (including a tube slide), and various pools and whirlpools suitable for different age groups, Jack was never left wanting for more.

MSC Cruises provides a variety of entertainment options for children, including kids' clubs that provide age-appropriate activities different age groups.

Evenings aboard the MSC Seascape are a diverse mix of entertainment – no exaggeration needed. From Broadway-style shows and live music performances to themed parties, casino, F1 Simulators, and elegant lounges, every evening promises a delightful experience. There are 20 distinct specialty bars for all occasions from day to night, offering a wide choice of outdoor venues to relax and enjoy the sea views, from Sky bar with a stunning view of the bridge of sighs to the Cocktail bar in the Chef’s Court and much more. Cozumel: A Mexican Gem

Our first port of call was the picturesque island of Cozumel, Mexico. Known for its vibrant coral reefs and crystal-clear waters, Cozumel is a haven for snorkelers and scuba divers. A short walk from port, you will find a walkable area filled with shopping and restaurants. I highly recommend booking an excursion with your cruise line for this port, then enjoying some time exploring the shopping area at port before returning to the ship. Alternatively, if you wish to spend the day basking in the sun, you can take a taxi to a nearby sandy beach for a fixed rate of $30 USD. If you prefer to stay in port, there is plenty of shopping and restaurants to keep you busy, including a small swimming area where you can take a dip to cool off. Please note that the swimming area is not accessible friendly and there is no sand.

George Town Cayman Islands: Paradise for Water Enthusiasts

George Town in the Cayman Islands has pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters. A great way to spend time at this tropical paradise, is on an excursion where you get up close and personal with friendly stingrays in their natural habitat. For those seeking relaxation, Seven Mile Beach offers powdery sands and tranquil seas, providing the perfect setting for a leisurely day in the sun. Don’t forget to bring cash for this port, as transportation relies heavily on cash for currency and finding a taxi or shuttle bus who accepts cards can be difficult. It will cost a flat rate of $6 USD per person, and it take about 15 minutes in a taxi or shuttle bus to Seven Mile beach. There will be food vendors and beverages available to enjoy, as well as the ability to rent loungers with umbrellas, but bring cash with you as an ATM is not available. There are no sit-down restaurants or bars on location.

Across from the port, in the town of George Town, you will find a selection of shopping, restaurants, and bars to enjoy. The Cayman Islands is a shopping destination for duty free precious stones and diamonds, making jewelry stores are abundant at port. To experience the local flavours of the Caymans, I recommend checking out the Caribbean Kitchen restaurant. Located behind the National Museum, just off the main road on Harbour Drive. Seating is available outdoors, the food is authentic, and the staff and owner are lovely. I recommend trying the Cayman style beef with a beer or rum punch. If you’re adventurous, you can also sample, or order, the turtle stew.  www.caribbeankitchen.ky

Ocho Rios Jamaica: A Tapestry of Culture and Nature

The next stop on our Caribbean journey brought us to Ocho Rios, Jamaica. This vibrant destination offers a perfect blend of lush landscapes and rich cultural experiences. This port is best spent on an excursion to Dunn's River Falls, a natural wonder that cascades down terraced steps into the Caribbean Sea. Or, immersing yourself in the rhythmic beats of reggae music, while enjoying tropical cocktails on the sandy beach of Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville or on the elevated bar and restaurant overlooking the pier at Oceans on the Ridge.

If you prefer to stay near the port, a short taxi ride, or 20-minute walk, will bring you through the main strip, past local markets, and restaurants, to the local beach. Turn left just before the CIBC, and through the parking lot to reach the beach. Be sure to bring cash for food and beverages, as well as a small fee to enter, and another fee to rent loungers. While relaxing on the beach, listening to reggae music, with no worries, you can sample authentic Jamaican cuisine, drink rum punch, and discover the true spirit of Jamaica. If traveling with children, there is an inflatable waterpark which can be enjoyed for $20 USD per person. My son loved this option, and so did we! He was able to play while we relaxed! I recommend heading to the beach bar, locally owned by a mother and son, to grab a beverage and a bite. Just follow the sounds of reggae music!

Ocean Cay Bahamas: A Private Oasis

One of the highlights of the MSC Seascape cruise is the exclusive stop at Ocean Cay, MSC Cruises' private island in the Bahamas. With its turquoise lagoons, white sandy beaches, and vibrant marine life, Ocean Cay is a secluded paradise offering a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. From snorkeling in the coral gardens to lounging on a picture-perfect beach, this private oasis is a true Caribbean gem.

    Conclusion

Embarking on a Caribbean cruise aboard the MSC Seascape is an unforgettable experience that goes beyond the ordinary. They effortlessly blend a sense of luxury and comfort, exceptional dining, world-class entertainment, family activities and wellness offerings making this cruise an unparalleled choice for those seeking an indulgent, or family friendly, escape to the Caribbean. Let me guide you on a journey that promises not just a vacation but a true adventure at sea.
