Paris, the city of love, art, and timeless beauty, holds countless treasures waiting to be discovered! This is one my (Karen's) favourite cities in all the world! In the heart of this enchanting city lies the 12th arrondissement (one of 20 Paris districts), a district teeming with history and culture. In 2005, I happened to stumble upon this area while researching places to stay. I discovered a now personal favourite must-stay hotel here. The 12th is now one of my go-to areas to spend time in and soak up the ambience of "local" Paris. Join me and embark on an extraordinary journey as we explore the hidden gems of the 12th arrondissement, with a special focus on the alluring Hotel de la Porte Dorée.

Its leafy boulevards and historic architecture provide a tranquil escape while remaining conveniently close to Paris's bustling center. Dating back to the early 20th century, Hotel de la Porte Dorée captures the essence of Parisian elegance. Its Art Deco façade and meticulously preserved interiors transport guests to a bygone era of glamour. The boutique hotel's commitment to maintaining its historical charm while providing modern amenities sets it apart as a truly distinctive accommodation option.

Tips for a Memorable Stay

Walk across the street to the Boulangerie Vandermeersch. Not to be missed - you’ll want all the croissants, pains au chocolat and baguettes!

Take the time to explore the Bois de Vincennes. This expansive public park - minutes walk from the Hotel - is one of the largest green spaces in Paris. Bois de Vincennes offers lakes, walking paths, a zoo, and the stunning Château de Vincennes, providing a peaceful retreat within the city. You can even rent a bike right from the hotel!

Walk the Viaduc des Arts - Promenade Plantee. This elevated promenade was once a railway viaduct, and it has been transformed into a vibrant space known for its art galleries, craft workshops, and stylish boutiques. It's a great place to explore contemporary art and design.

A quick metro ride away is Bercy Village - formerly a wine market, Bercy Village is now a charming district with cobblestone streets, boutiques, and restaurants. It offers a picturesque setting for shopping and dining, blending history with a modern urban atmosphere.
